Posted on December 1, 2009. Filed under: Market Information |

Over the past several months San Antonio has seen several business leave the city from major retailers like Circuit City to car dealerships such as Fiesta Auto Center.

However, according to a report by My San Antonio many of these empty and rather large spaces are being bought up by the still dominant forces in the market, such as the Bed, Bath and Beyond that took over the Linens N’ Things at The Forum.

Overall sales for Commercial Real Estate in San Antonio were down 68%; however, statistics being reported are starting to show some stabilization for the commercial side of the market.

As we take a look at the Residential side of the San Antonio market, we continue to see growth within sales.  Much of this can be contributed to the first-time buyers incentive as well as to the attractiveness of the state of Texas as well as the city of San Antonio.

While only slight, the San Antonio job market is beginning to see improvements to the unemployment rate and we are beginning to see more and more new comers to our state from areas such as California.

According to the report by My San Antonio, a large contributor to the decrease in unemployment is being made up of government type jobs such as schools.
